On March 11th, the YouTube channel “TEO” released a video featuring IU.

IU, who starred in Netflix’s original series “When Life Gives You Tangerines”, described herself as a homebody, saying, “I like staying at home. My mode switches on and off depending on whether I have makeup on or not. I think having two different names—Lee Ji-eun and IU—also plays a role in that.”

She continued, “There are a few things I was born with as Lee Ji-eun, and one of them is self-objectification.

IU then addressed the rumors directly, “I understand that people can talk behind my back. But if someone says ‘IU has celebrity syndrome’, that’s a lie. I don’t think I’m superior to others, so that statement doesn’t hold up.

She added, “Someone might say I’m rude. And honestly, that’s just because I am rude. It’s not because of celebrity syndrome—I was simply born that way.”

IU revealed that she isn’t deeply affected by public opinion. She said calmly, “That’s just luck. Some comments even claim I’m not Korean. I don’t mind hate comments saying I’m ugly, bad at singing, or bad at acting—I don’t even consider those hate comments. But when people accuse me of things I haven’t done, I believe that should be punished.
